AdventHealth Hospice Care East Florida Brings Communities Together
The communities surrounding AdventHealth Hospice Care East Florida are active in helping to keep its spirit present and strong through several special events held during the year. These programs offer opportunities for community members to come together and share experiences, whether those involved have benefitted from our services or simply have a heart for our mission: providing compassionate, end-of-life care to individuals of all faiths throughout Volusia and Flagler counties.
Annual events like Artists in the Garden, Blessing of the Bricks and the Golf Classic help support the services we offer and to keep the memories of loved ones going. These events benefit AdventHealth Hospice Care East Florida both financially and spiritually through the sense of place they generate.
Artists in the Garden
Since 2008, Hammock Gardens, has hosted the Annual Artists in the Garden event to benefit Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, a Hospice Care Inpatient Unit, on the campus of AdventHealth Palm Coast. Janine Regina, owner of Hammock Gardens, organizes and hosts this beautiful event and invites various artists to set up along the garden pathways on the Hammock Garden property. Each artist donates a portion of sales and a piece of their artwork for a raffle to benefit the hospice program.
This event is hosted as a labor of love for Regina, who picked the location as the benefactor due to her personal connections with the house, and the Meyer family. Artists in the Garden is hosted early in the year at 5208 N Oceanshore Blvd., in Palm Coast, Florida.

Blessing of the Bricks
Since 2007, Kelly’s Corner, the Memorial Butterfly Garden atStuart F. Meyer Hospice House, has been a place for patients and families to sit in fellowship and prayer, as well as honor the memories of those who have passed away. The garden is paved with bricks that have been placed there as memorials to loved ones who have died on the hospice program. And, each year, AdventHealth Hospice Care East Florida and the AdventHealth Hospice Care East Florida Foundation host the Blessing of the Bricks ceremony with songs, prayers and remembrances.
Following the Blessing of the Bricks ceremony, there is a special time for family members and friends to search out their loved ones’ bricks and spend a moment reflecting on their lives and legacies.
The butterfly garden, named Kelly’s Corner in honor of one of the granddaughters of Stuart F. and Doris C. Meyer, is maintained by Janine Regina, owner of Hammock Gardens. Regina donates both her time and the specially chosen plants and flowers that line the brick path.

Annual Hospice Care Golf Classic
Golfers have been teeing up for the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House Golf Classic on the beautiful Hammock Dunes courses in Palm Coast for over 10 years. The newly renamed Annual Hospice Care Golf Classic is held in support ofStuart F. Meyer House, and in recognition of the Meyer family and Mr. Meyer’s dream.
Mr. Meyer, while being cared for by hospice learned of hospice patients who, without someone to care for them, needed a place in Flagler County to receive compassionate end-of-life care in a homelike setting. To honor Stuart’s memory, his family, friends, and community members banded together to help build the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, and many still participate in the golf tournament each year in support of the hospice house.
This event occurs in the fall and has become something that participants look forward to each year.
